Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for City of Edmonton

Update 5:20 p.m. – Severe thunderstorm warning ended for City of Edmonton

At 4:47 p.m. MDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

THis thunderstorm is located over Edmonton and is moving northeast at 15 km/h.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
